100 lolita questions.
i've seen a few different people do this on neocities so i thought i would too. i copied and pasted the questionnaire from ophanimkei but i think it might have been translated into english by howtobecomeanangel.
1 Please tell us your screen name, date of birth, and origin.
clearglass & '99 & i live in the USA.
2 What is your height, weight, clothing size, and shoe size?
5'3" so roughly 162cm & a mystery & a mystery and also made-up & women's size 5-6...
3 What made you start doing Lolita fashion?
during my vkei renaissance of 2024 i was listening to a lot of malice mizer again and naturally rediscovered my teenage respect and fondness for mana. being nonbinary transmasc i felt that i would never feel comfortable in lolita even though i admired the fashion from afar. mana reincentivized me to give it a try.
4 What is your favorite Lolita genre?
oldschool / traditional, depending on your interpretation of what oldschool 'means' but i think things can read and look oldschool even if they're modern pieces. however to that effect some people would probably say my styling is traditional. anyways this is about what i think and i think most of my coords probably count as oldschool sweet but the lines are more blurred in os between substyles to say with absolute certainty especially since i of course have quite a few gothic and classic pieces as well. anyway, i just like oldschool.
5 Do you have any particular commitment to that genre, or your own definition of it?
i have a heavy style focus of trying to channel 'i took my selfie with a digicam and it's a super crunchy picture and i put a white vignette on it and put it on photobucket.' to be honest i mostly like the feeling of mimicking an anime girl wallpaper from 2003-6. like i mentioned i don't interpret oldschool to refer exclusively to pieces from the early days of lolita as there can be modern clothing made with the same style inclinations in mind, but i try not to dabble in more 'modern' interpretations of lolita; i don't always wear a petti, i don't wear tea party shoes, i avoid modern mascots like usakumya, et cetera. however, ultimately, i try to wear lolita as normal clothing at least once or twice a week, so comfort and movability is generally the most important element to me when making an outfit.
6 Do you have your ears pierced? How many piercings?
i have my lobes pierced, a double helix on my left ear, and an industrial in my right.
7 What is your favorite brand?
i mostly represent bodyline and chinese indie brands lol i don't like spending too much money on my wardrobe. oldschool baby the stars shine bright and metamorphose temps de fille are more or less my holy grails, as in they make a lot of my 'dream' pieces. i also like kazuko ogawa and black peace now quite a bit. from chinese indie, i have been very happy with my cyan cat pieces. they more or less produce pieces in the same vein as oldschool moi-meme-moitie.
8 What is your favorite outfit?
any shiro coord i make i feel most myself in.
9 How many lolita friends do you have?
within my comm, lots of acquaintances, but no true 'friends' (yet!). my partner likes jfashion and varying jfashion styles though so they count i think lol.
10 What is the best thing about wearing Lolita?
i think the experimentation and proving to normies that you can wear such frilly clothes in a daily way and get errands and things done is the most satisfying part of it to me especially since people tend to think i reserve these clothes for special events only.
11 On the contrary, what is the most unpleasant thing?
the online culture shift about lolita has been sad. many western lolitas specifically are totally unaware of vkei and the original kind of punk-ish inclinations of the fashion and the mindset it took to begin the fashion and wearing it and many people will look down on others for those things that even helped jump start the fashion because to them lolita is about being 'kawaii' and representing your favorite sanrio character or something. sigh.
12 What is your favorite magazine?
aghhh i don't know. i'm a bit of a fraud when it comes to looking at scans. i do have the dictionary of gothic and lolita terms that came out last year (2024) that i bought even before i decided to pursue wearing lolita (i bought it as a compromise for presuming myself to be too dysphoric to wear lolita) and flipping through that has been very fun. it's like seeing a GLB but all grown up! the illustrations are lovely!
13 Team Headdress? Team Bonnet? Team Headbow?
i mostly wear headdresses because bonnets kind of intimidate me. not a huge fan of headbows but i like how easy they are to put on because they're just headbands. i'd rather wear a clip-on canotier or something though if i don't want to tie a headdress on or if it doesn't have alligator clips.
14 Do you have bloomers?
peeking bloomers are some of my favorite elements to add to a coord.
15 Do you tie your headdress in front? or are you on the team that ties it behind your head?
usually i tie it behind. sometimes i'll tie it in front for that extra frumpy element that makes something scream oldschool but usually the feeling of it under my chin bothers me.
16 Do you have a favorite music genre or band?
industrial. akira yamaoka is my favorite artist right now. i also really love nine inch nails, chemlab, massive attack, HEALTH, and machine girl.
17 What is your mobile phone ringtone?
some generic apple one. my phone is usually on vibrate.
18 Do you go to lives in Lolita?
if by lives you mean concerts, all the time. i love wearing lolita to concerts. once i got a comment from a very nice metalhead about him loving mine and my partner's aesthetic and also that he did not have an aesthetic but he wanted one lol.
19 For those who go to lives, do you headbang?
you bet i do. well, depending on the show.
20 What color do you like?
black x white (generic i know), white, and red x white usually. i like white x blue as well but finding stuff in that color scheme that isn't moitie and therefore not an exorbitant amount of money is a bit hard.
21 What are your hobbies?
these days it's mostly going to a variety of music events. i also like to write, draw (although i've barely done that in 2025 tbh), play games (which mostly means marvel rivals this year lol), and read VNs and an assortment of books. and movies.
22 Please tell me if you have a favorite perfume.
i don't know if i can narrow it down to say i have a favorite but as of right now my 'signature scent' that i don't even wear enough to actually call a signature is probably hex mundi's possession. its notes are matrimony vine, vanilla orchids, cement, creme and amber. loup-garou by hexennacht, alkemia's old books and fresh flowers, BPAL's jasmine rice and white musk, and cardinal scents' familiar spirit are up there too for 'default perfumes i wear'.
23 Is there anything you say “I’m careful about this” when it comes to lolita?
ankle support...i always tie my RHS around my ankles and while my walking style is better suited for the platforms of RHS than even my normal sneakers, it's something i try to be mindful of especially since i usually wear my coords while doing daily things and the sidewalk can be uneven and stuff.
24 Where are the places you visit / hang out at frequently?
coffee shops around my apartment (various), the tea shop my boyfriend works at, local alternative bars for goth and metal et cetera., diy music venues, our local independent movie theater.
25 How many times a week do you wear Lolita?
i try for at minimum once a week, usually on a weekend. i wfh so it's harder to motivate myself to put on a coord in between. lately i've been sleeping in way too late on my days off so i just want to get dressed and out the door so i've been slacking on coording...
26 Please tell us the most embarrassing episode you had when you were a beginner in Lolita fashion.
i still consider myself a 'beginner' so i don't know. perhaps there will be a good story in my future.
27 What is your hairstyle and color now?
i have a jellyfish haircut. i am trying to grow the bottom part of my hair out to be very, very long. it's about the middle of my chest right now. it's my natural hair color, which is just a light-ish brown.
28 How long have you been in Lolita?
only middle of july 2024 but i've liked it since 2012! i know that doesn't count though.
29 Do you have a dedicated lolita storage space?
nope i just separate it in my wardrobe from my main stuff. but it all lives in the same place. in theory i'd love to have a beautiful big wooden wardrobe but i don't have the space for that and ultimately i try really hard to keep my wardrobes small because clutter overwhelms me so...no beautiful wardrobe in my future. oh well!
30 Have you ever thought about leaving Lolita? If so, why?
i'm too new to the fashion to say i've thought about leaving it. so nope.
31 What is your motto?
man idfk. actually, can that count?
32 What are your dreams for the future?
i am not particularly ambitious and the world falls apart more and more every year and it's hard enough to even just feel motivated to get up only to see the world fall apart more and more every day of every year. so i'm just aiming to be happy with my partner and keep us able to go to events we like with people we love and care about. and to do things that i think make the world be a better place, because some people will always care, even if others don't. on a more positive note, i would like to become better at chess. there. haha
33 “This person would definitely look good on Lolita!” Are there any celebrities you think that about?
uhhhhh nope. perhaps seeing tilda swinton in a coord would be cool. she always looks so ethereal in all her looks so i think playing off that would be fun. a very ega-inspired shiro coord would totally suit her i think...atelier boz your time has come...
34 Please tell us the item with the most memories and those memories.
my first shiro op that i believe is from a defunct chinese brand called lilli berry. i wore it to a goth event in a shiro coord and someone told me i looked like madge bellamy in white zombie and i've been riding that high ever since. i have yet to see white zombie.
35 What was the first item you got?
it was a pair of bodyline RHS that i bought before i thought about getting back into the fashion at all but i was in the middle of reading a nana volume and i couldn't take the jealousy over the RHS anymore. for lolita specific items, i bundled a small order from taobao that had a bxw bustier skirt set from the princess's garden, a bxw cross op from kuno:noku, and a bunch of socks, probably from roji-roji and yidhra.
36 Do you have a signature pose for taking a picture?
i typically just kind of angle my feet inwards for anime girl peakness and try to fix my bad posture lolol.
37 What is the “Bible” of your heart? (Like what Books, magazines, CDs, etc. represent your inner self)
sonic the hedgehog, bitch! especially sa1 and sa2 and sonic rush. dance dance revolution. silent hill but also survival horror just in general. i think the most me-core albums are glass animals' how to be a human being, placebo's without you i'm nothing, sneaker pimps's becoming X, and the cure's wish. the most me-core movies are the crow 1999, paprika, the batman 2022, evil dead 2, and the matrix. phantom of the opera is the most me-core book i think, with frankenstein as a runner-up...kurt vonnegut's works really resonate with me but i wouldn't say they're me-core as his writing was so specific to him and his life. but i think we write very similarly.
38 How many centimeters tall is the highest heel you have?
i don't wear heels. my platforms are typical RHS size at the tallest, so 5-9cm?
39 Have you ever worn a tiara?
i have a tiara-style mini crown? i like the tiara-style VW horn crowns but i'm just gonna have to make my own because that's soo expensive. i don't think i'd wear a normal tiara outside of those though.
40 Do you want to be a prince once in a while? What kind of prince? Dark and gothic? Ghostly in white?
i liked ouji a lot when i first discovered lolita (shocker considering i was in the throes of gender dysphoria) but now i'm not interested at all. i can be a lolita prince. who knows.
41 What kind of lace do you like?
cotton torchon. i like raschel too but sometimes it can be so scratchy... so elegant when it's nice though!
42 Do you own a (ball jointed) doll? Those who have them are usually so enthusiastic about them!
i guess i technically have one from a blind box. i bought this box because the series seemed to be reminiscent of various eras of anime and the lolita girl was channeling 2001-2010 with her dead square-shaped eyes and tiny dot-shaped mouth. i got lucky and that's the one i got. i'm not really a doll or figure person. i do however have a monster high doll i'd like to one day customize to look like my ffxiv warrior of light. stick around to see if that'll ever happen...
43 What’s inside your lolita bag right now?
i empty all my bags if they aren't being used otherwise i forget about stuff that's in there.
44 What is your favorite flower?
i'm a sucker for an easter lily. too bad they're so toxic to cats. i really love hydrangea too. of course, heliotrope is becoming a fave for me too, but i don't know the last time i've seen them in person.
45 What is your favorite accessory right now?
my totally authentic VW armor ring.
46 Please tell us your favorite / recommended cosmetics.
so my prescription is terrible and i usually wear glasses so i don't wear much makeup because i typically like doing eyes stuff and not much on my face; i don't wear foundation at all unless i'm doing something for cosplay. however because of my vision i've been getting more into blush as a replacement for what used to be me doing an eyeshadow look. i like the fwee blurry pudding pot i have, not sure what shade off the top of my head, sorry. but it blends so dreamily and gives me a nice antique doll looking flush. i don't use it on my lips because it kind of dries them out. for lips i really like the elf lip oils.
47 Bright eyes are the hallmark of being a doll! So do you use false eyelashes? If you have any tips on how to use them, please let me know.
i do not. as mentioned my prescription is terrible. due to that and various other eye issues i take pretty heavy precautions to do what i can to care for my eyesight and fake eyelashes aren't something i'm interested enough in to mess around with lash glue and risk my eyesight for lol. i know they're probably safer than i feel like they are, but i'm just not interested.
48 What is your particular eye makeup style?
i used to do blue eyeshadow in the 2010s a lot...now i like channeling a slightly grown up version of what they probably call indie sleaze makeup and smudge a taupe shade over my eyelid and line under my eyes with brown before blurring it out. brown mascara usually if i opt for it at all. sometimes i will draw on shelly duvall style lower lashes with a liquid liner because i don't like wearing black mascara on my lower lashes much.
49 Is your lipstick red? Blue? black? pink?
i usually wear lip glosses or lip oils, usually deep red in hue. i do have a black lip oil i really like as well though! i did buy an obligatory navy lip paint at some point but i've only worn it once around the house and felt like it looked weird (probably because i wasn't wearing any other makeup lol). maybe if i ever do a mana-inspired look for a con or something i'll wear it.
50 What color do you often use for nail polish?
i don't often wear nail polish but i like deep reds and this shimmery transparent white i have. very ethereal.
51 Have you ever changed your clothes in the toilet at the train station?
nope haha although i have had to bring different shoes to drive in if i'm going far.
52 Have you ever had twin loli or triplet loli? impression?
nope! maybe one day!
53 What are you doing to keep in shape? Recommendations?
ignoring this one!
54 Do you feel calm when alone in lolita?
typically i get a bit anxious right before i go out but as soon as i realize the worst thing that happens is that sometimes people stare at me a little too long or double take at my outfit i stop caring. so yeah i'd say so.
55 How much do you spend on lolita each month?
not very much honestly. yay! some months are more than others though obviously. with the advent of the tariff situation and no more de minimis in the USA i'm not planning to do any big bulk orders from china or japan though so this number is about to go way down i think.
56 Did you have any time lag between learning about Lolita fashion and actually doing it or resistance to starting?
over a decade!!!!
57 What is the most expensive thing you have ever bought? (In relation to Lolita)
btssb swan lake 1 jsk and even then i got that for an absolute steal (for os btssb anyways)
58 Lolita really costs money, doesn’t it? How do you pay for Lolita?
i'm lucky enough to have an office job that allows for me to invest in my hobbies.
59 Just here. How much is the total cost you have spent so far?
man idk. i try to be very serious and intentional about the pieces i buy and i generally refuse to spend more than 150 USD on a piece of clothing. this is why i stick mostly with chinese indie brands and bodyline listings. i don't want to psych myself out of wearing my clothes because i spent 300 USD on a dress and think "oh no what if i tear the lace on a branch" and never wear it or something.
60 Is there a store you would like to see nearby?
i'd love to see the storefronts at all really...maybe one day AP SF will be in the cards, realistically speaking.
61 Just between us, is there a store that makes you say: ‘that’s a rip-off!’?
honestly like most modern releases... AP and moi meme moitie are the biggest offenders to me. how dare they consistently put out the shiniest saddest polyester releases these days. i don't understand why anyone is interested in paying that kind of money for the lack of quality. i'm not a fan of atepie too, their materials look so uncomfortable...
62 Have you ever used an online shop? If you have, please give us some advice on the good points and bad points. If you haven’t, tell us why not.
all the time, i have an anecdotal guide about it on my site at /howtololita.
63 Just between us, even if you want to keep it your own secret, what’s an indie brand that makes you go "this is exactly my style."
i don't know about an indie brand that is exactly my style. there's a western indie brand called crown of peril i recently discovered that does os-influenced releases that harken back to old vkei and brands like Na+H & alice auaa but i literally just discovered them and even then their MPs are a little too punky for my taste. maybe their next collection will be quintessentially me? i really like kuno:noku but they haven't put out a new release in a while.
64 Absolutely out of reach! But I want it! Do you have any brands or products like that for you?
as of right now, antique bouquet OP by meta (i'm boring, sorry). but the secondhand prices for the re-release from last year are still crazy high. i'm hopeful that in a few years it'll go down. also the 1998 bouquet print high waist OP also from meta...and the jacquard OP also from meta...moitie's 2003 shirring ribbon op from...ahh and how could i forget the 2005 pirates alice set from aatp, the OP that ryukishi07 used to design bernkastel off of?! i literally cosplayed bern in 2013 with horrendous polyester and all. i would like to have the actual OP she wears. as you can imagine this dress is pretty popular with umineko fans though and i've seen it in a few umineko collectors' posts.
that said, about a month ago i was looking on mercari and while i don't often look at the big brands on there because it's still more money than i'd like to spend, i was looking at the aatp tag and someone had uploaded it for 80 USD... T_T of course it had sold a day before. i had to double take when i saw it at all, and lamented my luck when i saw the sold banner. oh well... but if anyone ever reads this and wants to part with this specific OP, please keep clearglass in mind...!! hahaha.
65 What do you do with your tired old clothes?
so far i've just taken things i'm on the fence about to swapmeets to try and keep them in my local comm and sell them to people i know, but luckily most items i have i love.
66 What was the most recent lolita and non lolita item of clothing you bought?
i bought some random blouse on depop yesterday (seller miscommunications aren't making the purchase easy though). for non-lolita it was probably my street sects shirt i got when i saw them live.
67 What is something you missed out on that you’ll never see again, but you can’t forget?
i dunno man. even only in 2019 os lolita was going for so much cheaper than it is now. i wish i had dived into the fashion before the os trend really took off because i don't think it's something i'm going to move on from style-wise.
68 What do you think of dressing as a Lolita only during live performances?
to me the goal of lolita is to treat it as a part of my daily wardrobe so i don't understand why people wear lolita only for special events. if the whole point of lolita is to show that people can wear clothing like this for everyday events and that it's not a costume, aren't you kind of shooting yourself and your ideals in the foot by only wearing coords to cons and events? i don't get it. of course sometimes people can only wear lolita to comm meetups for safety reasons, but that's not what i'm talking about here. i don't see the value in spending money on a dress you will wear once a year if it's not for a costume of some kind.
69 What do you think of No-Makeup-Lolita?
i'm almost always a no-makeup-lolita but i do think having makeup makes me feel more 'complete' with a coord. regardless, i don't care if people do or don't wear makeup.
70 You suddenly meet another person totally wearing Lolita! What do you do?
i'd be pretty excited!! i've had a few people not wearing lolita compliment my coords like saying "i love your JSK" and "i love your OP" thus making it clear they know what lolita is and it's very exciting. i think i would ask them what their favorite brand is and ask about a piece of theirs if they approached me. otherwise i'd probably just be like "love your coord!" and move on.
71 How old is a Lolita allowed to be?
lolita is forever baby!
72 Under what conditions do you think Lolita should graduate? (You can answer ‘continue forever’)
don't wear it to stay trendy or relevant online if you aren't interested in the fashion anymore. especially with the advent of jirai's popularity lots of lolita 'content creators' (ugh) and people who post a lot of lolita content on instagram and stuff seem to be losing interest in lolita in favor of jirai but don't want to give up lolita because their audience likes lolita over jirai. idk. move on. let it go. clothing is clothing.
73 Stop this! Are there any things no one should do in Lolita fashion?
paying 400+USD for papery polyester...treating brands like they're your friends...etc. also please wash your clothes. a dry clean is so easy to do at home.
74 Do you have a specific sense of what a perfect Lolita should be?
no because i think the overarching idea of what a 'perfect' lolita is has changed a lot from the inception of the fashion (punky, doll-like, princess-like) to the mid 2010s (sweets & pastries, gyaru influence) to the later 2010s (classic, refined librarian, celestial) and back again to some iteration of the themes from the original days of lolita with all these os re-releases... and i've noticed the general popularity of what to and to not post about as it pertains to lolita shifts along with it. just wear the clothes and have fun! we are all people in cute clothes, that's all. god knows the lolita comm can be full of the meanest people on earth sometimes and i don't care how good your coord is--a person like that can never be 'a perfect lolita'.
75 Other than what you said 73, what is something you wish people wouldn’t do?
well i think i already answered this in 73 i think hahaha. i think referencing only japanese brands for styling resources is pretty limiting especially when chinese indie is usually significantly more affordable and honestly usually higher quality than most modern jpn brand releases are these days. people here in the USA get a very skewed image of chinese brand releases and i think the way people talk about chinese lolita is so terrible. i will defend chinese indie forever. i will defend not spending extravagant amounts of money on clothing forever. hell i spent 20USD secondhand on a chinese brand OP thats full cotton, lined with cotton, has POCKETS, and has a built in crinoline! for a fraction of the price! the quality is just as nice as my BTSSB pieces and i don't have to deal with also wearing a petticoat.
76 What do you think about Lolita fashion for men?
lolita was popularized thanks to a man. fashion is for all and nongendered.
77 Have you changed in any way since you started Lolita?
i think i'm more comfortable with my gender presentation as a nonbinary transmasc who does not and will not medically transition and has never medically transitioned. i think it's fun that if i'm going to be called a girl i might as well look like a weird little doll. lolita kind of feels like drag to me in that for me it IS a type of costume and a bit of a performance but it is also authentic to my sense of personhood and personal identity, if that makes sense. in the same way that drag queens 'become' their drag persona once they put on their outfits, that's kind of what lolita is for me. i 'become' that doll that can't exist as a person. i 'am' that doll. and yet i also am not. idk, it's fun the way fashion and gender intersect, especially if you're lgbtq+.
78 What do the people around you say about you wearing Lolita? Do you accept it?
people are usually really polite; i've only had one negative experience thus far and it wasn't really that bad, just some weird looks and some people refusing to get out of my way when i was trying to get to the bathroom so i literally had to move them to the side. it was weird. my friends sometimes get confused because my normie wardrobe is typically just a variation of jnco-style baggy jeans and a t shirt, so seeing me in a coord can be jarring for them i think, especially since almost all of my friends are some flavor of transgender. but everyone's chill about it.
79 What kind of lolita fashion do you do in the hot summer months?
this was my first entire summer spent wearing lolita since i started in july 2024 and i mostly wore ankle socks and treated my JSKs like sundresses. lots of lightweight cotton too. i have a UV-blocking parasol now too i think will help. oh and of course the quintessential proto-themed tank top cutsew + skirt combo. to be honest i've been pretty depressed this entire summer so i didn't coord as much as i wanted.
80 Do you go to school or work in Lolita?
i started wearing lolita after graduating from college. i work from home and sometimes throw on an OP if i feel like it. almost never a whole coord.
81 What is your usual outfit style?
since i try to wear lolita as daily wear, i'm usually pretty casual. i like OPs and skirts the most and usually wear headdresses because they're the least bulky and eye-catching headpiece imo. so usually it goes headdress or hair clip of some kind -> OP -> striped socks or lace-topped socks -> RHS boots. i don't like overly accessorising so usually i throw on my armor ring for some extra pizzazz and usually my locket from BPAL because it has a nice long chain and some good weight to it.
82 Do you have any objections to second-hand goods?
i will not spend over 150USD on a clothing item so that basically exclusively limits me to secondhand and chinese indie on taobao! personally i prefer buying secondhand anyways.
83 Do you have a boyfriend (or husband)? Does he understand?
a boyfriend! yes! he has some lolita pieces too and tends to coord stuff more in a proto or non-lolita way.
84 Please tell us your ideal male image.
don't care! any variation of alternative-presenting is good enough for me. as long as you don't look like a tech bro, i'm not too picky. although i guess if i was realllly shallow i wish my boyfriend were 6'0" or something. i like height differences lolol.
85 What kind of person is the Lolita who left the biggest impression on you?
i guess i gotta give it up for mana again for reasons i already explained.
86 Have you ever made your own clothes? What kind of clothes is it?
i made a singular clip-on headpiece by hot gluing stick-on velvet to craft foam and lace LOL. i'll probably continue to make headpieces like that. they're easy and simple and no one but me will know how busted they are and i don't want to spend more than $5USD on something like that. i would like to make mini ties and detachable collars too, but my sewing skills leave much to be desired. i think DIYing clothes to look more lolita would be fun too.
87 Have you ever made an accessory yourself? What did you make?
oh oops i already answered that.
88 This thing I made was a great success! Is there anything you feel that way about?
my one headpiece is not made very well at all. but she does her job. so, no...it's not a great success... but i love her.
89 Tell us if you have an ideal Lolita outfit or coordination.
i love shiro but it's not always the most practical especially because i am kind of particular about "oh no, what if this stains!". otherwise i like wearing more os classic pieces with big boots. the juxtaposition of such elegant wallpaper-y MPs against a chunky pair of gothic platform boots does something wonderful to my brain.
90 Is there anyone you admire? What kind of person are they?
i have no idea...
91 You can date any person for just one day. The other person will also dress however you want. Who is it and what kind of date?
don't really care to be honest i'm not a dating kind of person i think. also i don't care much about fashion on other people, just be happy and comfy in your body, and maybe don't exclusively wear the classic zelda t shirt cargo short fit if you're a cis guy. hahaha
92 What kind of store would you like to have if you were to open one in the future?
i yearn to be able to work at a record + vinyl + tape + music accessory shop while still making enough to live. sigh.
93 When looking at lolita, your eyes will go straight to this motif. What is it?
i'm not a huge fan of prints so typically my preference goes for parts of the dress itself. i'm a huge sucker for princess sleeve-anything and scallop hems. can i count velveteen? lol. actually now that i'm thinking about it i like angel wing and cross motifs, but cross motifs can sometimes toe the line of making me feel like i look religious (i grew up christian and as you can imagine have complicated feelings about it now) so i prefer them if it's subtle imagery or a very very gothic-looking cross of some kind. i do love the cross jsks from moitie and the cross OP from antique beast though and i'm glad kuno:noku did something similar.
94 Do you want your child to be a Lolita too?
i'm not planning on ever having children, so... n/a hahaha.
95 How much can I spend on one loli outfit?
everyone is different and has different things they feel ok or not ok spending on on clothes so i don't think i can answer that... whatever you think is worth it to you without breaking the bank. like i mentioned, i do think it's kind of cringe to spend 400+USD on new releases when the quality sucks and i spent enough time ragging on people for doing that (sorry if you're reading this and you buy new releases it's just my opinion and i don't think you're a bad person for it or anything) and i want to propose the counterpoint that hey that's why i'm not spending my money on these new releases and everyone can do what they want forever. plus i think the way that people operate in lolita with a scarcity mindset and buy and resell coveted os releases like meta's gobelin rose line for something like 700USD is absolutely insane. anyway i don't know, spend whatever is appropriate for your budget, like i said, just be smart with what works for your wallet and your cost of living. it's none of my business what you do lol
96 This is quintessentially Lolita! Is there a certain gesture that makes you think this.
i dunno...posing with a parasol over your shoulder?
97 I want to wear that once in my life! Do you ever think that about any style other than lolita?
i looove cult party kei...but i'm not someone who likes layering...i do like cyber a lot but i'm pretty picky with metallics and most of the items i like the most about cyber styling are the accessories and the bags, which are the most expensive pieces to buy right now. my comm also appeals to other jfashion and there's a group of gyaru who go to an arcade i like so i'd like to try a rokku gyaru look for one of their meetups, but i don't see myself participating in gyaru fully as i am too impatient to do makes and stuff.
98 Looking at your Lolita collection or style, what one word would you use to sum it up?
ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... awesome... idk lol
99 What is your ideal Lolita image?
haunted victorian doll anime girl wallpaper on your lenovo thinkpad that you downloaded by looking up 'anime girl wallpaper' on google. there's probably some madame edwarda song playing on winamp. the girl from gosick whose name i don't know. bernkastel and clair vaux bernardus from umineko. chidori from persona 3.

honestly this didn't take as long as i thought it would! i encourage anyone who might be into lolita to fill this out; you can always exclude the more personal questions and only answer the lolita-related ones!

this Q&A was filled out using notepad++ and the plugin markdownviewer before exporting to html and copying the file into my folders for my site to stylize within my usual code editor. it was a much nicer way of doing longform writing instead of using html tags. easier to parse. certainly not as easy as using something like eleventy but, well, i didn't feel compelled to try and learn how to do that. i did this questionnaire on 8.27.2025. i might do it again at some point in the future, if clearglass still exists in 2030 or something, when my thoughts may have evolved significantly enough for me to revisit the questionnaire. go back to the main lolita page. ❤︎
